Trasee turistice

We present below some tourist routes, stressing especially the natural sights:

Route 1: A walk on Ciuha Hill, either from Ileanda to Bizusa or vice versa. You can walk on paths, pick mushrooms and from the hill climax (389 m) you can have a view of the entire region: Somes with Rogna, Podis, Buzas and Rus villages at west, Negreni, Perii Vadului, Mesteacan at northwest and Sasa, Vima Mare with “Vima’s Shore” at east. [2 hours]

Route 2: From Bizusa to the little forest at Perii Vadului on the Dej – Baia Mare motorway. [20 minutes]

Route 3: To the edible chestnut forest at Negreni. You go by car or bike on the Dej – Baia – Mare motorway then cross Somes at Negreni or 1 km away from the village. [2-3 hours]

Route 4: To Mesteacan Springs. You can choose one of the following ways:

  • on the Dej – Baia Mare motorway by car or bike to the spring where you’ll find a beautiful cabin and where beside food and drinks you can taste the famous “curly pie”; [2 hours

  • a walk on the Dej – Baia Mare motorway to Perii Vadului and from thereon on a small path over the Mesteacan hills. [4-5 hours]

Route 5: To Rastoci cave. You can go or walk on the Dej – Baia Mare motorway until the outgoing of Perii Vadului. The on road leading to Zalau, 1 km away from the crossroad you’ll find the place called “Poiana”; [6 hours]

Route 6: To the forest cabin called “Goronis” in the village of Cormenis. Same as route 5 to the outgoing of Rastoci. You cross Somes by boat to Cormenis and from thereon the walk goes on through the village and forest. [5 hours]

Route 7: To “Pestera Varului” (Lime Cave) at Bizusa. The railroad must be crossed and then the walk goes on a path along Somes. River must be crossed by boat to Rogna and from thereon you go up the four terraces to the Cires Hill and the lime formations. [5 hours]

Route 8: To Rogna Pond. Same as route 7 to the outgoing of Rogna where the pond lied. The hunting lovers will find here ducks. [2 hours]

Route 9: To Luminis at the karst formations area. You follow the Bizusa – Luminis secondary road. Entering the village you go north on the path to the orchard and then to the karst formation area.

The thirsty traveler can make a short stop at Bizusa in order to taste the mineral water from the three existing springs. At the outgoing of Bizusa, there is a good, clear, cold-water spring on the left side. [3 hours]

Route 10: To Lapus River, having the following choices:

  1. From Bizusa over the hill of Osior where you can find Karst formations via Boiu Mare and from there to Lapus. [7 hours];

  2. On the Dej – Baia Mare motorway by car via Mesteacan and from there on the secondary road to Boiu Mare and farther on to Lapus [6 hours];

    • The following route is most beautiful and has two alternatives:

    • Over Ciuha Hill you walk on a path along Sasa village via the village of Romanesti on the Romanesti valley, to Lapus river. The landscape in the Lapus mountains is wonderfull;

    • From Ileanda on the Ielanda – Vima Mare secondary road via Dolheni and from there on you go up to Sasa and farther it is same as the route described above. [1 day route]

Route 11: To Pleseni Springs. You walk across Ileanda to the outgoing of the village, then you across Valea Ileanda and you go up to the spring that provides Ileanda with water. From there on you can go up to “Fantana Popii” (The priest’s well) which is another spring and can walk around in the Stinbei forest or to the springs at Cosere. [3-4 hours].

From Stinbei forest you can go out at “Poiana Cocos” and then go down to Ileanda on the bridge near the kindergarten. [2 hours]

Route 12: To the village of Barsautza. You follow route 11 and before crossing the valley you turn left on the path that leads to the forest. Then you go through Rascol (a gypsy village), Dolheni and then go up through the forest of Barsautza. [4-5 hours]

Route 13: To “Malul Vimii”. You go on the Ileanda – Vima Mare secondary road along the Ileanda valley until the outgoing of Vima Mare. From thereon you go up to Malul Vimii (the western apart of Culmea Brezei) where you can observe the wind phenomena and admire the highly attractive landscape. There are also some cold-water springs, one of them providing Valea Ileanda. [1 day]

Route 14: To “Izvoarele (The Spings)”. From Ileanda you go up on the path along the Ileanda creek, pass near the old abandoned basins and reach the springs that provide part of Ileanda village with water); [1 hour]
The other alternative is longer: you go across Ileanda village to the bridge over Valea Ilenzii. Then, near the kindergarten you go up to “Poiana lui Cocos” wherefrom on a path beneath the cliff you reach the springs. [2-3 hours]

Route 15: To the caves in Rus. You drive on the motorway from Ileanda to Dabaceni, cross Somes by ferry to Buzas, cross the village and at the outgoing from Buzas, on Buzas-Rus secondary road you will encounter the karst formations called “Pesterile lui Pintea” (Pintea’s caves). The legend says Pintea and his outlaws will have once hidden here. [4 hours]

Route 16: You follow route 15 to Valea Podisului and will find here a beautiful cabin. If you are in the mood you can go up to the larch tree plantations, see the geological formations called “Ileanda Mare layers”. Through the forest, up on the hill’s peak, you can reach a wonderful glade with view to Valea Varului. Up to the cabin, you can drive but have to cross the river by ferry at Podis or on the bridge at Rus; [6 hours]

Route 17: to Cheile Babei, a beautiful karst region. You can drive to Galgau on the Baia Mare- Dej motorway and from thereon turn left to Poiana Blenchii, along the river Poiana. There you will find the connection between Somes’ Passage and Lapus Depression that is situated in Maramures County.

    For one, two or three-day trips, we recommend the following objectives:

  1. The town of Jibou, which is very important communication center with some interesting sights: the botanical garden, very well equipped and rich in many species; a small ethnographical museum and over 100 years old castle. At the town’s western limit, near the road that links it to Zalau there lies Baile Jibou – a small watering resort. Its water is indicating for the intern cure of liver, gastro-intestinal and nutrition diseases.

  2. Following another route to Zalau via Romanasi, you drive to Moigrad and from thereon to Magura Moigradului. On the Pomat and Citera massifs you can visit the ruins of the Roman amphitheater of the antique Porolissum that was once the capital of Dacia Porolisenssenis.

  3. Following the same route from Ileanda to Jibou, near Surduc you turn on a way that goes along the Almas river and reaches Galgaul Almasului. There you’’ find the “Dragons’ garden” where the crumbling of the Miocene conglomerates and gritstone generated a specific landscape.

    Near the village of Rocas there is a daffodil glade. You can visit the wooden churches from Sanmihaiul Almasului and Zimbor and also the ruins of the feudal fortress near Almas.

  4. For the tourist that stops in Ileanda, a visit to Maramures region would pay off. It is a pre-eminently mountain zone that has generated myths and legends, history and unthinkable beauties. Its inhabitants with their bright and inventive minds have added to the natural beauties their own beauties, created by skilled hands.

    • Sapantza astonishes the world with the unique beauty of the “Merry Graveyard” created by Ion Stan Patras. The colorful tombstones with engraved phrases prove the strength of the Romanian spirit;

    • The Maramures typical wooden gates with ornamental motifs are real “triumphal arches” and border almost all households;

    • The striped and with flower motifs embellished counterpanes, rugs, carpets, woolen skirts, the traditional costume, the carved wood and the icons painted on glass are unique.

    • The harmonious architecture of wooden houses and the impressive churches from Barsana, Moisei, Rohia, Bogdan Voda, Ieud, Plopis, etc.

    • Moisei, a village on Viseu river’s valley – has a museum-house, a 1672 wooden church and a sculpture yard dedicated to the martyrs from Moisei. It consists of 12 men figures that are disposed in a circle, around a stone table;

    • From Moisei you can come up to Borsa and farther on to the Borsa tourist center. From there, a shi-lift ride or a walk to Pietrosu peak (2303 m) or Puzdra could remain unforgettable for the mountain loving tourists. They can have a meal at sheepfold that usually consists of warm corn-mush (“mamaliga”), different kinds of soft cheese, whey, etc.
